As a nonprofit, St. John’s Food for the Poor Program relies on the assistance of community volunteers to staff the soup kitchen and food pantry. If it were not for our volunteers, there would be no St. John’s Food for the Poor Program.
Volunteer just a few hours of your time with the St. John’s Food for the Poor Program and help make a difference in the lives of hundreds of our Worcester area neighbors who are experiencing hunger, poverty, or food insecurity.

The St. Francis Xavier Center has a need for a volunteer to serve as the Food Pantry Assistant. Ideally, the person would spend 9-10 hours weekly (M, W, F 8:30 – 11:30) to assist Bill Riley with administrative duties including answering phone calls, responding to email, coordinating volunteers, and creating reports. Perfect role for a person who is comfortable with Microsoft Word/ Excel, has a welcoming phone manner, and who enjoys navigating a website to obtain information for reports. Position available immediately – see or email Father Madden for more information.
